Welcome to Scouts 2004.
Well the new Scouts are well and truly settle in, every one has had a good Christmas and New Year and look forward to 2004. The 1st Activity of the year was Ice Skating at Blackburn, all had a good time. See pictures below.
At the end of February we went to Cumbria and stayed at a town called Millom. We went up on Friday night, got settle in. On Saturday we went to Sellafield Visitors Center, Saturday evening we made pancakes using a Coke can and a candle, (good laugh if you have not tried it). On Sunday we went Crabing on the Beach, then late Sunday afternoon we made our way back to Wigan. If you would like on details on how to book Millom sent me an e-mail.
Our Next activity is a Survival training camp at Bispham Hall in April. Also in April we have St. George's Day Parade.
Well the Survival Camp has been and gone, what a weekend, the weather was at its best, the gutting and cooking of the fish went well, with all the Scouts having ago, the evening meal over the fire was edible, but could have been better had the Scouts not poked the fire to death. On the Sunday we all went to St George's Day Parade. Then we all went back to camp and pack up. Check out the Pictures see what you think.
In May we took part in the MAD Competition held at Bispham Hall, all who took part really enjoyed the day, they took part in about 12 deferent basses, Archery, shooting, canoeing, pioneering to name but a few. Well done to Simon from 4th Hindley for a well organized event, and BRAVO to all his helpers for making it such a fun day.
In June we went to Alton Towers and did the Raft Race at Three Sister's in Wigan. A good time was had by all and the Pictures are now on the Web.
In July we went to Tawd Vale Camp Site near Ormskirk. We held our Group Camp, Cubs and Scouts. The weather was at its best, the most rain fall over a 24 hour period in the history of man kind. But that did not dampen the sprit of things, we got on with the activities and had a great time. Check out the pictures below of the Cubs and Scouts having a great time.

End of July and the 1st 2 weeks into August the Scouts were on break. The Scouts returned on the 3rd week in August to prepare for the Great Towers Camp in Cumbria. September was here and we were on our way for the water activity weekend of a lifetime. Were we disappointed not a chance we couldn't have asked for any more water if we tried, it rained Friday night, all-day Saturday, all Saturday night, guess what it stop Sunday Morning, great tents are nearly dry, right Scouts get all the tents packed away, someone must have heard me, rain it was here and it wasn't going to stop, the last wet tent in the back of the van. Hello Sun were have you been all weekend. Well as Scouts leaders we have all been there. The actual water activities were great Dragon Boating, Sailing Canoeing to name but a few. All had a good time, anyway have a look at the pictures and decide for yourself.
October the Scouts entered the Chariot Race at Bispham Hall, We were hoping for best Chariot, but were robbed again. The Scouts work really had and got a commendable time. We didn't make it to the finals but all had an excellent weekend. Unfortunately this was the last camp for the Scouts unless we find another Leader. I have to leave at the end of January and so far we have not been able to find anyone to take over. I am able to help with the running of the Scouts but cant commit to the Thursday Night Meetings as my Job has changed. If there is anyone out there who would like to be a leader please e-mail me. Thanks.
Activities planned for November are Night Hike up Rivington Barn with a sleep over at the Scout Hall. The Moonlight Competition, then in December Go-Karting.
