Welcome to the Scout Section News Page.

This page is to let you know what we have done, and what we will be getting up to. Here are the people who help the Scout Section do what they do.

Scout Leader John Bell Assistant Scout Leader Paul Lowe

This is what has happened last year 2003.

Start of the year, we went ice-skating at Blackburn Ice Rink in February, had a really good time and no broken legs.

April, We had our 1st camp of the year at Bispham Hall. The weather was excellent as usual, but that didn't stop us having a good time. It was a pioneering weekend. We built a Crows Nest with a trapezes swing on it, then a 100ft rope walk across the pond. All had learned a lot and we all had a good time. See the photos on the web now.

May, was a quite mouth, we concentrated on our Drumming, mainly the static display.

June, we went to Alton Towers for a day out. What a great day had by all. The weather was at its best and I did get to go on quite a few of the big rides. Here looking forward to next year, I would like to thank everyone for making it a brilliant day.

August we held the Group Camp at Tawd vale, the Scouts set up the camp on the Thursday, the cubs turned up on the Friday. We had Archery, Shooting, climbing and abseiling, canoeing, rafting, and pioneering. A fun weekend had by all.

September I got 12 new Scouts from the Cubs, we concentrated on getting them invested into the Scouts.

October we entered the Chariot Race, didn't win anything but all had an excellent time.

November we did a night hike up Rivington Barn, then a sleep over at 2nd Atherton Scouts, then went ice Skating. At the end of November we entered the Moon Light Competition, we meet at Haigh Hall, then by transport we got drop off at Leigh, then we had to walk back to Haigh Hall which was around 15Km, without getting caught. I entered 3 teams, 1 of the teams actually managed to come 3rd place. Well done to all those who took part.

December we held our Christmas party at the Go-Karting center in Wigan. For most of the Scouts, it was there 1st time in a go-kart. All did well, when the Scouts 1st started driving it was taking then an average time of 40 seconds per lap, by the end of the night they were doing the laps in 15 seconds. I would like to with all a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
